UPDATE: Respiratory infections break out across more Interior Health facilities

UPDATE Jan. 14:
Respiratory infections are breaking out at facilities across the Interior Health region.
There are currently outbreaks at 11 facilities, between Kamloops and Osoyoos.
The latest is influenza A at Vernon’s Gateby Care Centre, declared Jan. 14 in 3 West.
An RSV outbreak was declared Jan. 13 at Kelowna’s Sun Point Village, in Reid’s Corner.
Down in Osoyoos, the long-term care facility of Mariposa Gardens is dealing with a human metapneumovirus in Desert Sage 1 since Jan. 12
The entire Pine Grove long-term care home in Kamloops has had an influenza A outbreak since Jan. 10.
Human metapneumovirus is also impacting the entire Westview Place in Penticton, since being declared Jan. 9.
Mount Ida Mews in Salmon Arm declared an influenza A outbreak Jan. 7 which is impacting the entire facility.

Nine care facilities are facing a nasty flu and virus outbreak in Interior Health.
Most are respiratory infections of influenza A, such as the latest at Royal Inland Hospital in 5 South, declared Monday, Jan. 5.
Outbreaks are also at Vernon’s Noric House (declared Jan. 3), Salmon Arm’s Bastian Place (Dec. 31) the Fisher Place in 100 Mile House (Dec. 31) and Kelowna’s Mountainview Village (Dec. 29).
The Hamlets at Vernon has a human metapneumovirus outbreak (Jan. 5), impacting the entire facility.
Kamloops’ Ridgeview Lodge is battling RSV (Jan. 5). There is also a gastrointestinal illness outbreak (Jan. 5) at Brocklehurst Gemstone in Kamloops and norovirus at the Hamlets at Westsyde.
